This project provides mediation services to rural residents, producers, their creditors, and other persons directly affected by actions of USDA agencies. Mediation is a means for parties in a dispute to exchange information and to explore options in a nonbinding setting. Through mediation, parties work toward a resolution while avoiding the cost and time usually involved in pursuing administrative appeals or litigation.
The Mediation process may entail the following three steps.
- Educational - A letter explaining the mediation process along wit applicable regulations is sent to the party requesting mediation.
- Informal Mediation - A conference call with all parties involved in the dispute will be arranged to see if an understanding can be reached.

Those seeking mediation should return the Registration Form provided and submit it along with a copy of the denial notice to Rural Services of Indiana, Inc.
